Right now this looks like what my PC will essentially be, with possibly a few more bells and whistles added:
STANDARD 2 USB PORT CONNECTORS
Case: ASPIRE X-DREAMER CASE 350 WATT W/ WINDOW (SILVER COLOR)
CASUPGRADE: 12" COLD CATHODE NEON LIGHT SOUND ACTIVED (BLUE COLOR)
DVD drive: 16X DVD ROM (BEIGE COLOR)
CDRW: CD-RW 52X24X52 (BEIGE COLOR)
CPU: AMD Athlon XP-2600+ Processor
FAN: AMD CERTIFIED CPU FAN & HEATSINK
FLOPPY: 1.44 MB FLOPPY DRIVE (BEIGE COLOR)
Hard Drive: MAXTOR 120GB 7200 RPM ATA 133 HARD DRIVE
MEMORY: 512 MB (256MBx2) PC3200 400MHz Dual Channel DDR MEMORY (Standard Major Brand)
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS A7N8X-X nVidia nForce-2 400 FSB 8X AGP w/ USB 2.0 with ONBOARD 10/100 NETWORK CARD
Microsoft® Windows® XP HOME EDITION
PRICE: (+701)
SERVICE: STANDARD WARRANTY PLUS ONE-YEAR ONSITE SERVICE
Sound card: 3D WAVE ON-BOARD 5.1 SOUND CARD
SPEAKERS: 600WATT PMPO SUBWOOFER STEREO SPEAKERS
VIDEO: ATI RADEON 9600 256MB DDR AGP 8X W/ TV-OUT & DVI [+63] (HELL YES!)
WIRELESSCARD: PCI Wireless 802.11b 11Mbps Network Interface Card [+23]
So there we have it, $701 plus $65 shipping for a grand total of $766. This could be less or more depending on how much the price of the components drops in the next month or so. If they drop enough I could decide to include either an internal Flash memory reader (to use with my camera memory card), a thermal display unit on the front of the case, rounded cables, etc. I think I'm pretty set though. We'll go pick up a monitor I have my eye on for around $155 at circuit city and the whole shebang will be done with for under $1000, which isn't bad considering how much I'm getting and how I'll be able to use most of these components for many, many years to come. w00t!
